Start a prayer routine

Start a prayer routine that will activate God’s blessings into your life. You will have the direction for your life because you will be able to hear God’s voice clearly. Moreover, a consistent prayer routine will enhance spiritual growth. I pray that you will start a daily prayer routine or continue to grow in your prayer life.

Decide to start a prayer routine.

Be intentional and purposeful about your prayer routine. Write your routine in detail and purpose to follow the same routine daily unless the Holy Spirit leads you otherwise.

Set aside the best time

In my experience, I find it best to pray early in the morning when everyone is still asleep and without any interruptions. Mark 1:35 says this about Jesus, “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed” (KJV). However, it does not matter what time you pray. Choose the time that works best for you.

Find the best place where you can pray uninterrupted.Start a prayer routine

This could be in your bedroom closet, or on your bed, at your kitchen table, a chair in the corner of your living room, in your car on your way to work, or in your bathroom.

Tools to use during your prayer time:

  • The Bible is your number one tool because we want to pray according to the will of God. 1 John 5:14-15 says, “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him” (KJV).
  • Listen to worship music if you feel you need to prepare the atmosphere so that you can stay focused on Christ and the Holy Spirit.
  • A Journal to write what you believe God is saying to you during your prayer time. Remember, prayer is simply communicating with God. Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (NIV).
  • A prayer notebook or binder with different tabs based on the things you would like to pray about such as:
    • Family
    • Marriage
    • Husband
    • Children
    • Home
    • Finances/Debt Freedom
    • Career
    • Your Church
    • Others/Prayer list

Stay consistent with your prayer routine.

Consistency will strengthen your faith in God and it will help you to stay in tune with the Holy Spirits’ guidance daily.
